How to Protect Yourself Against the Flu

How can you help protect yourself from the flu? Check out the following steps you can take.

  1. Wash your hands often with soap and water
  2. Use an alcohol-based hand rub
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth
  4. Avoid close contact with sick people
  5. Practice good health habits. Get plenty of sleep, exercise, and fluids. Also eat healthy and manage your stress.
  6. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  7. Throw away any used tissues immediately
  8. If you are sick with a flu-like illness, stay home for at least 24 hours after you are fever free (without the use of fever-reducing medicine)
  9. GET VACCINATED!

According to flu.gov ” If you get the flu vaccine, you are 60% less likely to need treatment for the flu by a healthcare provider. Getting the vaccine has been shown to offer substantial other benefits including reducing illness, antibiotic use, time lost from work, hospitalizations, and deaths.”
